Dinosaur galleries designed by Herron Associates in 1992. A steel catwalk is installed in the central column bay of the long gallery with arms extending out over the gallery space to either side. Objects and skeletons are suspended from these arms and visitors walk on the catwalk, over the exhibits, getting a preview of the displays. Visitors get to the end of the catwalk and walk back through the gallery weaving back and forth under the catwalk to view displays.

The lower level contains diorama exhibits and windows in the translucent glass allow views of these.
